Some people enjoy candles. Others simply love them. If you’re one of the latter and you’re just getting into the habit of buying and using candles, there are some must-have candle accessories that many enthusiasts say very much enhance this hobby. From making their use cleaner to bolstering the way they look in a room, candles accessories cover a variety of arenas.

Candle accessories tend to come in two major classes. The first is meant to increase the safety and cleanliness of burning candles in a home. The second group of candle accessories enhances their beauty and helps them fit into or even create decorating schemes.

Candle accessories designed to add to the safety of use are fairly extensive. Some of the most common candle accessories in this class include:

• Candle lighters. These are not the same as cigarette lighters. Long and tapered, this type of candle accessory is meant to keep fingers as far away from burning wicks as possible. • Snuffers. These candle accessories protect wicks when the candles need to go out for the night. Rather than run the risk of blowing hot wax or flames toward anything, snuffers put candles out perfectly by depriving them of the oxygen the flames need to burn.

Candle accessories that are meant to enhance appearance also run a wide range. These can include:

• Display holders. These are generally designed to hold pillar, votive or taper candles in a collection. This is a great way to display a number of candles together all at once and have the added safety of a proper holder to ensure they don’t fall over or drip wax.

• Specialized single candle holders. Unique pillar holders, wall displays and other similar candle holders can help set the tone in an entire room. They can add to a design theme or even help create it.

Candle accessories can make using and displaying candles a great deal more fun. They can also increase the safety of using candles.
